After numerous contributions to V/A, Mambo Kahn is coming back to Cluster Traxx to release his long awaited solo debut EP “Stronghold”, exploring his repertory, from club-oriented 2-step tools to emotional rave anthems.

‘Bounce and Clash’, the first track of the EP, is a revisited version of one of the artist’s earliest productions. Mambo Kahn turned the original progressive, atmospheric tune into a 2-step club-ready edit, mirroring his new musical aspirations, years later.

The eponymous track ‘Stronghold’ reflects a new direction for Mambo Kahn, fusing the ghetto-electro sonorities of previously released ‘Raskit Boi’, with almost trance-inspired harmonies.

‘Cloudy Allegro’ is a no-nonsense UK rave piece, inspired by rave nostalgia and more modern acts such as Denham Audio, Breaka and BABii. The track features layered drum breakbeats, roaring bass lines, emotional rave chords and a live-tweaked synth arpeggio to drive the euphoria.

‘Daydream’ is all about skipping drum patterns and a warm subline reminiscent of early dubstep tunes. Harmonic elements, aquatic sound effects and distant vocal samples contribute to the comforting atmosphere of the piece, closing the EP in a laid back manner.
